You never have too much time to think, in tennis you have less than a second to get ready and prepare your hit, but try to keep this in mind when making a volley:
If you leave your racket "plane" the ball will hit the ground and jump high. If you hit with a certain angle, the ball will leave some energy in your rackent, then it will hit the ground and drop, almost lying on the ground.
Racket | = high rebound Racket / = low rebound, your rival will not have time to hit.
It needs practice to make the best volley. And trying different angles you´ll see the difference. If you can practice with the machine you can have an idea!
