Perhaps it sound silly, but do you warm up before playing?
Many of my friends who play every saturday or every sunday just jump in the court and start playing, this is a big mistake. You suffer several injures! Your muscles need to stretch, to prevent injures and also to play better, you´ll reach far away balls, come to the net faster and specially improve your serve.
What to do? That depens on you, but at least you need to run a bit, perhaps a minute or two, to prepare your legs and lungs. Make little jumps to get your feet ready, and turn yourself arround your hips to left and right many times. And also practice with the ball with your rival, to be accustomed to the racket and the weight of the ball.

I'm awful about warming up before I do anything. I'm really lucky I haven't hurt myself from not doing it. I've never know what all to do for stretches so I don't get everything stretched even when I do stretch

I also hate to warm up in the gym, and the teacher keeps telling me to do it. But the other day a girl hurt herself in a machine and the teacher told her it was because she did not warm up. I was afraid, not I spend some minutes warming up.

When the injures time comes (end of season) you can see how important is to warm up.

When I play tennis we usualy warm up for about 4 to 5 minutes by just hitting the ball to each oher. It dous not elimenate all the Injuries but reduces them. At one time we had 3 people injured in 3 weeks he worst was a guy who snapped his acilies tendon and was out for 6 months! Happily Injuries like that are yery rare but any amount of prepartion cannot garantee that you will not hurt yourself only reduce it.

I stretch out pretty thoroughly, and probably will even more after my foot heals. I broke it, so it's going to need some extra special attention,

It cut me off again, my computer is a little nuts. I was going to say: anybody know of a good stretch for the foot?
