This is a game based on many similar tennis games that are currently played on the internet.
You choose an ATP player, retired or active, to be your player throughout an ATP season.
Each player has 500 ability points, which you must then divide between the 4 surfaces: hard, clay, grass, carpet.
EG - Pete Sampras could have
Hard: 150
Clay: 50
Grass: 200
Carpet:100
However, the minimum for any one surface is 25 and the maximum is 250.
To sign up for the game, then simply go to the "Sign up thread" and post your player's name and their ability points.
When it comes to playing matches, you must divide your ability points for the specific surface the match is played on into the 3 sets.
*You must send these points to me, either through the PM here or via email smidgley@gmail.com. You may only send one set of points for each tournament, but you may send new ones whenever you start a new event. If you don't send new ones, old points will be used. Failing that, you will lose by default. *
For instance, if the above Pete Sampras was playing a grass court tournament and had 200 ability points for grass courts, he could divide them like this:
set 1: 100
set 2: 45
set 3: 55
His opponent, say Andre Agassi, could have 150 ability points for grass and could divide his as follows:
set 1: 80
set 2: 50
set 3: 20
The two scores would then be compared using the below scoring system:
Singles (Best of 3 Sets):
Difference of 115 or more = 6-0
Difference of 89-114 = 6-1
Difference of 60-88 = 6-2
Difference of 37-59 = 6-3
Difference of 18-36 = 6-4
Difference of 8-17 = 7-5
Difference of 7 = 7-6 (7-0)
Difference of 6 = 7-6 (7-1)
Difference of 5 = 7-6 (7-2)
Difference of 4 = 7-6 (7-3)
Difference of 3 = 7-6 (7-4)
Difference of 2 = 7-6 (7-5)
Difference of 1 = 7-6 (8-6)
Singles: (Best of 5 Sets)
Difference of 80 or more = 6-0
Difference of 58-79 = 6-1
Difference of 40-57 = 6-2

Difference of 8-15 = 7-5
Difference of 7 = 7-6 (7-0)
Difference of 6 = 7-6 (7-1)
Difference of 5 = 7-6 (7-2)
Difference of 4 = 7-6 (7-3)
Difference of 3 = 7-6 (7-4)
Difference of 2 = 7-6 (7-5)

Difference of 3 = 7-6 (7-4)
Difference of 2 = 7-6 (7-5)
Difference of 1 = 7-6 (8-6)
*If the scores are identical, a coin toss shall decide the set, which shall result in a 7-6 (9-7)*
So, for the above Sampras-Agassi match, the result would be:
6-3 6-7(2) 6-3 to Sampras and he would go through to the next round.
To select your tournaments, go to the thread "tournament commitments" and sign up for the events you wish to play. Only one event per week please, but you don't have to play an event every week. The calendar is loosely based on the ATP calendar but I shall be adding/omitting some tournaments to include a few more grass events at my own discretion.
