Will Ferrero ever get some form back? At this rate he'll be out of the top 10 come the end of the year - a lot of ranking points to defend at Flushing Meadow. What has happened to him since Rotterdam?

Well the chicken pox he got is to blame for part of his crappy season (march-may) but i think that lack of fitness might be to blame and lack of matches too. Hopefully he can get a few matches in before he plays TMS Canada and get back to where he was last year

The worry is he may end up similar to a Dokic or a Stevenson from the WTA Tour, on a much less a scale of course. It's looking unlikely that he'll make the Masters come the end of the season and he'll have problems in the USA as that is basically Roddick's turf - he needs to build up confidence and start getting results again, I think, or he could end up a one Slam wonder

Well he doesn't have Dokic's ummm... problems, his family is supportive, unlike hers so I don't think their situations are comparable. Personally don't think that Stevenson is or ever really was a top 20 player. JCF is far more talented player then either of them in my opinion.
I do not believe that he will be a one slam wonder, his results at Roland Garros (with the exception of this year) have been awesome and I expect that he will return to that form by next clay season.
As for the end of this year, I don't think he needs to worry about Roddick, his ranking will stay high enough that he won't be playing Andy in anytihng other than a final or semifinal. I think if he gets a few good matches in before the US Open that he can defend most of his points.
Do you know what JCF schedule is between now and the US Open? I know he will play tms canada and tms cincinnati and the olympics, but are there any small tourneys he plans on playing?

I don't know his exact plans but I hear that he's going to pretty much ignore the clay events and focus on hard courts to build up his confidence and form for the two Masters events and the US Open.
I don't think it was his US Open run that necessarily made him knackered for this year as he did very well at the Australian Open. Think his problem is similar to that of Schuettler, Philippoussis etc that he didn't take a big enough break during the off-season and his body has basically given up. I think, unfortunately, he'll be going further down before he starts to go up again as even if he does improve, the likes of Federer, Roddick, Coria have improved and are now a class above JCF.

He is still young, he can have a bad year, but we can be sure Ferrero will be N°1 again°

I don't care who's number 1 as long as it ain't Roddick. Can't ever see the Rainer Shuttle making it................
