Models In Madrid By Tennis Week The catwalk comes to the court in Madrid next week. Organizers of the Tennis Masters Series-Madrid have hired 25 models, ages 19 to 27, to serve as ball girls during next week's tournament. The models have been receiving a crash course in tennis terminology and etiquette this week to prepare for the start of the tournament on Monday. Their presence may compel players to watch more than the balls. "Before taking them on court to practice, we have shown them a bit about the sport, how you play, what a set is, what a game is and an ace," their coach Julio Nieto said. "They will add beauty, but we still have to work on a lot of details so everything works smoothly. The important thing is for them not to disrupt the rhythm of the game or distract the players." There is no truth to the rumor ring card girls will display the score during changeovers. The models are sponsored by designer Hugo Boss, which is also providing their clothes for the event.

Hi!! Well I can tell many things about this...about models, and about the Master...but just to say that I think it is not a serious way to get publicity of the tournament, and the models made many mistakes, the referee was all time saying to them..please girl back to ur site, please girl pass the ball, please girl give the towel to the player, and I know many players are upset for this, Agassi was angry with the first girl that u can see posted on this subject, the blond girl, 'cos she was all time out of her site, and many times was necesary to stop the match for the models' mistakes!!!.... It is a shame that the young boys and girls of the tennis clubs must to leave their places and their illusion to some girls that have no idea about tennis and even they recieve money for all in spite of their mistakes!!... I'm not sure that it was a great idea...the traditions are being lost, but it is known that the money and the image move the World...On spanish TV all time talking about models, models, and models, 5 minutes about models, and 1 about tennis I think the most important thing is to talk and show a sport event... is a mistake to pay attention in everthing that goes beyond sport things... A BIG OOHHHH to the Master's organization!!!

Yes, I think I agree with Lore (Surena)
I havn't watched a lot of this tournament, but the couple matches I did see I noticed a lot of mistakes by the girls. This is a very important tournament - players still trying to get the last positions for the Masters in Houston.. so why would they chose to put amateurs in place of those who actually know what they are doing? It was a bit risky really - I hope other players weren't annoyed like Agassi. Why wouldn't they put them in the lower ranked tournaments...? But I guess we all know the reason - money. It's upsetting to see Tennis being made into the same "money-spinning" type event like other sports. This is a traditional game, with traditional values. It shouldn't be made to fit with what the "Media" wants.
It seems a great shame that the "normal" ball girls/boys are told they can't do their jobs (that they no doubt love to do) just because some designer has asked to advertise his models and the ATP (if it is the ATP) has just given in to the promise of a sum of money.
No, I hope they do not carry on this ridiculous idea of ball girl models for the mens game or ball boy models for the womens

Marat said so, when they gave him the mic after he won Anyway, I think you may be right, the "normal" ball boys are kid players and their dream to be close to Agassi, Marat, David, Henman, at least one time in their life, and their dreams were frustrated. But I saw no mistakes.... I watched Nalbandian-Ljubicic, first set of Safin-Agassi and two last sets of Safin-Nalbandian, and the only mistake I saw was when a plastic piece what holds the Mercedes Benz log fall on the court and the umpire told the girl to pick it up about 4 or 5 times. But I was not focused on discovering their mistakes. I think Lisa is right: this is a very important tournament, they could choose the "Conde de Godó" in Barcelona to make the test, not a TMS event. but...... wow those models...! ;D
