Right, since Massu won the Olympics does this make him a legitimate Grand Slam threat? I've always thought of him as a good clay courter and decent hard courter but never a major player capable of winning the biggest prizes. Can we take much from his Olympic success or was it just a case of the top players not playing their best and Massu taking advantage?

there seem to be some guys who take real pride from playing for their country and that pride seems to drive them and make them more focused, Massu is one of these people. Some of the other guys do it out of obligation *cough* safin *cough* and have no real desire to win it, they disappear quickly.
Will Massu when a slam, no. This is his shining moment and I hope he realizes it and enjoys it. The deepest he has ever made it into any of the slams is the 3rd round and he made 1st round exits at the AO and Wimby this year. The deepest he has made it into the US Open is the 3rd round, I don't expect him to improve on that very much this year, maybe he will make the 4th round on a post Olympic high.

Massu forgot his gold medals in the Olympic Village! The Chilean swimming coach found the medals while cleaning the room he shared with Massu and Gonzalez. Nico said he forgot them because of the celebration and the rushing for taking the plane to Miami. Gonzalez, who stayed in Athens to test his ankle, is going to carry the medals to U.S. This is the full article in spanish: espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=257778

the olympics were a bit rubbish i say. massu won't win the us open because gaston will just to cap off an awesome year before he slips back into the depths next year. vamos gaston! todo el camino. bring on the bias!
oh and i do have to say that i am falling in love with rainer schuettler (the real one) but give me time and i will get over it when he changes his hair. having said that he won't beat his qualifier.

Wow, I love your positivity. I do think Gaston can be quite good player, but he has to get past the Brits first!
