I had a trip few days ago, of working reasons but also some pleasure. I took 44 photos, here is the link to the Album. But first I will explain what was my trip.
I work in a tourism company, who works just with these 3 cities: - Ushuaia: The most southern city in the World - Puerto Madryn: where the whales come close to the beach and the ships. - El Calafate: where the glaciers are.
There was a problem in El Calafate, and I had to do something in a guverment office in Río Gallegos city, because Río Gallegos is the capital of the province (state) where El Calafate is. So my bosses told me: "We send you to El Calafate on saturday night, you stay there the weekend, and on monday you go to Rio Gallegos, and on tuesday you come back to Buenos Aires". I was very very happy! Also, they told our people there to show me the Perito Moreno glacier on sunday (the most famous, there are about 8 glaciers for tourist here).

Here is a map, for you to have an idea: I live in Buenos Aires, in the middle and right of the map, and I traveled to El Calafate by plane (in the bottom and west) and then to Rio Gallegos and back, by car. In this map you can also see Puerto Madryn (in the Peninsula Valdez) and Ushuaia, at the very south. They are the other cities I have mentioned. These two lakes between El Chaltén and El Calafate are filled of water by the Glaciers.

If you want to see with more detail, here are those lakes. El Calafate is in the souther lake, in the bottom shire, where the map ends (at the right) Perito Moreno Glacier is this very white piece of ice that goes from the Andes Ice mase to the ground, cuting the lake in two (from south-west to north-east) That is what makes this glacier so famous: this ice mase advances 2 mt per day, and after some years, it reachs the shore and cuts the lake, so the water makes pression and brakes the glacier, it is an amazing thing to watch!! Last time it happened was March 2004. You will see it in my photos.

Okay, now I can post the link to my photos and explain them Where you see "Chime" it is me, it is the nick they call me in the office You will see some guys who work in our office there, or our bus drivers too. The first photos are from the city, and from the bus traveling to the glacier. The bus comes from the south, these are the first glacier photos. Then, you will see many photos from the north side from a ship. It seems close, but it is not, because it is dangerous, many icebergs on this side of the lake. The ice wall has 60 mt high! Then, the last glacier photos are from the ground, in grades and stairs that tourist use to watch the glacier, these are the closest photos. Then, photos of the people from the office, and after that, in the route coming back from Rio Gallegos to El Calafate, the snow crossing the route by the heavy wind. It was hard to keep the car on the route, and it was the first time I saw snow. In the last page, the first time i saw and touch snow!!! It was my last day, tuesday morning, and when i woke up and open the window i could not believe it!!! You can see me taking a piece of ice from the roof of the cabin! Then you see our office building, the day before it was under sunlight, now all cover by snow. Then, Soledad, a girl who works in the office there, we are in the airport and finally, the plane who took me back to Buenos Aires.
