When you started talking about this record something worried me. I always remember when this game started, the frist 4 events were won by the same player who lost in SF in the 5th. This player was Frederica Piedade (btw, she retired after a few tournaments because she was bored of winning)
This was Frederica Piedade´s winning streak:Bronx 2003 : 2 matchs
Bucharest 2003 : 3 matchs
Rimini 2003 : 3 matchs
Fano 2003 : 4 matchs
Presov 2003 : 2 matchs, lost in SF
Total: 14 matchs
That makes Duque´s record official :yeah:
That can be fixed joining other surfaces events.
But anyway I have seen a lot of 50 points strategies defeating higher, specially with new points, what makes a potential 65 points.
Example:new 50 pts: 00-50-00
Old 150 pts: 90-55-5
Result: 0-6 7-6(7) 7-6(7)
I have spammed for a long time people in this board to join, watching what player/country they support before inviting, but I think they hate me for so much spam. But if I see a Colombian around, I will write to him/her
Finally, an advice for all the players.
I´m glad the new vs old points rule is working.
Baltacha and Afinogenova send points inmediatelly after the tournament thread is open, and you can see them in the ranking. Duque never uses old points too, but she waits to watch the draw first.
Wartusch (today Parra) sent new points almost all the time when she was N° 1 (almost the complete 2005 season). Well the rule was not made then but it shows she was focused.
An advice for those who have time to find out how to improve in this kind of games:
You open an excel file and put the strategy you used, the rival and the score. You can guess more or less your rivals strategy, how did the defeat you and who uses the same strategy all the time.
Some little or major modifications, then test them on the court, and results will be at sight.
Example: There was a time in this game, around midle 2004 and 2005 when the winning strategy was 75-74-1 in different order but same times. You can see a lot of 7-6 in these ages, watching the h2h. Then come what is know as the "Laine strategy", she defeated all of them using 120 points and sending 100-10-10 (Laine has authorized me to post that).
That shows that this game changes, it grows and moves.
Final hint for the present/future: Don´t focus in clay and hard, because now any indoor tournament uses carpet. Spread your 400 points wisely.
