Popular pair out of FrenchAmerican James Blake and Moroccan Younes El Aynaoui have pulled out of next week's French Open through injury, organisers said on Monday. El Aynaoui, ranked 36th in the world, has been struggling with a right foot injury while Blake, 40th on the ATP entry system, has a broken back vertebra. Their places in the singles draw have been given to Israel's Harel Levy and Belgian Christophe Rochus. from eurosport www.eurosport.com/home/pages/V3/L0/S57/E6182/sport_Lng0_Spo57_Evt6182_Sto589863.shtml

What a shame. I was looking forward to seeing James Blake. How on earth did he break a vertebra. That sounds rather serious

oh, you hadn't heard about James falling? Here i went and dug up the article for you. I just hope he is okay Blake Returns Home Saturday to See Specialists from the atp website ~ May 7th James Blake will return home to Connecticut Saturday after being hospitalized in Rome following a freak accident during practice. Blake tumbled head first into a net post while chasing a drop shot Thursday. He was taken to Concordia Hospital with neck and back injuries. Blake had earlier in the week met with Pope John Paul II. Blake’s agent Carlos Fleming indicated that optimistically Blake hoped to return to the circuit to play Roland Garros (starting May 24) but that he would not resume playing until he was ready. Blake is wearing a temporary neck brace and is able to walk on his own power. He will see medical specialists upon his return to the US. Blake said: "I want to thank all my fans for their well wishes and support. I'm still a little sore but feeling much better. I am doing fine and was pleased to hear positive news today from the doctors who are treating me here in Rome. "There was no neurological damage and all reports indicate that I will be back on the court soon. I feel pretty lucky. It's probably a good thing I went to see the Pope on Tuesday! My next step is to head back to the US to see my doctors at home and reconfirm that everything is ok. I look forward to being back on the courts in the coming weeks."

Ouch that had to hurt. It'll be a real shame not to see him I told my friend in work (she loves JB) so we are both sad now, but my manager somehow saw the "funny"side of it !! Even if he tripped over his shoe laces I'm sure he fell with style and grace! Thanks for finding that out Nicki
