Tuesday, 20, September, 2005 "Jenson Button has secured a deal to stay with the BAR-Honda team in 2006 after agreeing to a substantial multi-million pound, multi-year deal,
Williams is reported to have accepted a cash deal to release the Briton from his commitments to the team.
While Williams has refused to comment on the news, according to Autosport Button will pay not to drive for the team and will then be re-imbursed by BAR-Honda."
I'm pleased that Button is able to stay at BAR as it was his first choice, I like drivers to be able to drive for the team they want or else they may lose their enthusiasm.
But I'm also pleased that he wasn't let off easily and has had to buy his position back. Drivers can't think that they can change minds regularly, F1 would be in a mess.
Britain have another driver too... Anthony Davidson says he is "confident" he will be on the Formula 1 grid. Davidson, who has been linked to BMW, Jordan and Williams, wouldn't comment on Button's future, but said whatever happened to his fellow Briton would have little impact on his own plans."
